XVII International AIDS Conference

Youth Spokespeople

The Mexico YouthForce is currently looking for 10-12 Youth Spokespeople for the XVIIInternational AIDS Conference (August 3-8th, Mexico City). The Mexico YouthForceSpokespeople team will be the focal points for the media at AIDS 2008. They will be responsiblefor highlighting youth issues and the key messages and work of the YouthForce.

YouthForce Spokespeople must be comfortable with the principles and values of the YouthForceand the advocacy messages that have been developed for AIDS 2008. It is necessary that theSpokespeople be available to attend the Youth Pre-Conference (July 31st-August 2nd) in order toreceive adequate training. Roles and Responsibilities:
• Taking part in the YouthForce Press Conferences (Dates to TBC);
• Being available for interviews throughout the conference;

Criteria that will be considered in the selection of Spokespeople:
YouthForce Spokespeople will be individuals that potentially fall into one or more of thefollowing categories:
• Living with HIV;
• Transgender;
• MSM;
• Working in the HIV/AIDS sector;
• Working in Harm Reduction;

Other Criteria that will be considered:
•Good Communication Skills;
• Good knowledge of issues affecting HIV/AIDS;
• Geographic diversity;
• Gender
• Fluent in English or Spanish (ideally has knowledge of both languages);
• Attending the XVII International AIDS Conference;
• Youth (ideally under the age of 25) or considered “Youth Ally”;
• Balanced Organizational representation
