Is Tanzania awakening the youth’s awareness through violence?

Hello speak Africa, its quite sometime I haven’t posted any thing on our valuable site, is due to some normal activities.

In my country Tanzania, many of our fellow youths and citizens at large, are in a day dream of better life. Our current president Jakaya Kikwete who is also a chairman of the African union (AU), promised to bring the blessing of better life to Tanzanians when he was a presidential candidate and so many Tanzanian especially youths, gave vote by expecting better life.

But now, more than two years in power, nothing like a far smell of better life rather than a bitter one. Our president is said to have played a major role in solving Kenya’s election results disputes but in our country we are facing almost the same problem of the Zanzibar’s 200 and 2005 election results.

The Zanzibar’s problem may be taken as simple for there is no bloodshed at the moment. If we are wise, why do we wait for the bloodsheds? Why not anticipate and eliminate the problem before it turns into catastrophe?

In our country’s main university, the university ad Dar es Salaam (UDSM) there are some protests taking place. Some of the students have been taken to court and accused of causing chaos in the university area. Students are demanding their rights and they want their fellows back but the university’s vice chancellor professor Lwekaza Mukandala, claims that the university has decided to sue the student as part of the its obligation!

One can wonder if the VC’s obligation is sue his students who are his employers. He wants us to believe that if all of the students are thrown out, there can appear a university?, can he be a chancellor any more?

This shows the end of the professor’s thinking capacity. I don’t think if decent youths who are searching wisdom and knowledge should be treated as hooligans when they differ with their teachers

The federation of the governments of Tanzanian institution of higher learning has conducted investigation and realized that the problem at the university of Dar es salaam id due to the VC’s attitude not the students at all.

Up to now our president hasn’t presented any speech on the saga. “The president is cool and happy as if nothing is going on” said one student.
In several mining areas, the indigenous are complaining and protesting against the foreign investors for they were evacuated in their places by force and no meaningful compensation were carried out. One government official told the protestors that it is indiscipline to disturb foreign investors with any claims.

My fellow young African, all these misfortunes are affecting our fellow youths. Bad decision by leaders the leaders we voted with many expectations are now turning into black colonizers. May be this is the chance for Tanzanian youths to wake up and play our roles.

President Kikwete’s period in office from December 2005 to now, four ministers (including the prime minister) were forced to resign for corruption scandal in billions of shillings or millions of US dollars. None of them is in sued, but the university students who demanding their rights are sued in two days period of time.

The petty traders commonly known as manchingas (matching guys) are arrest on the dairy bases for searching their meals through hand shops, taken to court paying fines with humiliations but none of the corrupted figures is accused is or humiliated or taken to court. Corrupted officials are forced to resign no more but the youths are sued, think my fellow African Youngman, we need to do something, we should be changes to bring changes. We must redeem Africa otherwise next generations will question our brains.
Violence caused by our greedy leaders, must be turned into a stepping stone to peace, security and safety. We need to do something right now! Africa is expecting us to change it
